Transportation Lab Meeting – Mon, May 22th
The Transportation Lab is a Local 20/20 Action Group working to promote a transportation system that minimizes need for personal motor vehicles. Such a transportation system must be safe, convenient and healthy, and it must be based on:
- People walking, the most healthful mode;
- People bicycling, the most efficient mode;
- Mass transit, the most efficient for moving large numbers of people:
- Private vehicles for providing services and moving small numbers of people
In person, monthly on the fourth Monday.

Forest Ecology Hike in the Olympic Rain Shadow – Weds, May 24th
Join Friends of Fort Flagler for an in-person hike and discussion at Fort Flagler and learn about our forest and plants. We’ll start at the lower campground and hike a loop which should take about 1.5 hours. During the hike, we’ll discuss the trees and plants, as we encounter them. This event is led by Erik Kingfisher, who has been working in land conservation since 1999 and has been the Stewardship Director with Jefferson Land Trust since 2007. Eric holds a BA in Environmental Education, and an MA in Environmental Politics. He also created and annually operates the popular Tidelands to Timberline adult natural history course, and supervises other On-The-Land-Learning community engagement programs of the Land Trust. Jefferson County Council for the Blind Support and Advocacy Group – Fri, May 26th
Jefferson County Council of the Blind is a support and advocacy group for blind and low vision folks. They meet in person on the fourth Friday of each month. They discuss technologies, opportunities and strategies for independent living. On May 28th they will have a speaker on Adaptive Strategies for folks with Low Vision.
