This practical, hands-on class will explore proven strategies for adding on-farm income through events, animal experiences, you-pick operations, farm stays, processing demos, and more. Presented by the North Olympic Development Council and the WSU Regional Small Farms Program, this session is designed specifically for small farm owners looking to diversify, attract visitors, and build long-term sustainability through engaging customer experiences. Such a transportation system must be safe, convenient and healthy, and it must be based on: people walking, the most healthful mode; people bicycling, the most efficient mode; mass transit, the most efficient for moving large numbers of people; and private vehicles for providing services and moving small numbers of people. Learn about Housing Cooperatives – Tue, Jun 25 The Olympic Cooperative Network is pleased to offer a new Learning Forum for cooperatives. The forum will bring both new and forming cooperatives together to share ideas and resources related to cooperative development in Clallam, Kitsap and Jefferson counties. The first learning exchange features housing cooperatives that are serving an expanding array of needs. This Cooperative Learning Forum will be of interest to both cooperative members and others interested in the role of cooperatives in strengthening economic democracy and resiliency. Crabbing 101 Workshop – Wed, Jun 25th The Jefferson MRC is hosting their annual FREE in-person Crabbing 101 workshop with opportunities to ask all your crabbing related questions! At the workshop, you’ll hear from state, tribal, and recreational crabbing experts who will cover Washington State crabbing regulations, tribal crab fisheries and co-management, crabbing tips, tricks, and best practices, and demonstrations of proper crab pot rigging. Guide and writing coach Carrie Bancroft helps participants at any level of hiking or writing transform fears and writing blocks into creative, joyful flow while immersed in the natural world. With group writing games, natural-world exploration and personal writing exercises, these hike-writes are fun and engaging while also going deep. This free, family-friendly event is designed to help individuals, families, businesses and neighborhoods strengthen their emergency preparedness through engaging activities, hands-on training, and expert-led discussions. Living in a rural community on the Cascadia Fault, surrounded by water and with one road on and off the Peninsula, we are called to invest into our individual and community wide preparedness efforts.
