Farm Human Resources and Employee Management Webinar – Thu, Apr 17th *New*
North Olympic Development Council and WSU Extension Regional Small Farms Program present a webinar for farmers, farm managers, and anyone responsible for building and leading a farm crew, particularly for those at the beginning of hiring and managing crew (3-5 years or under). Join North Olympic Development Council and WSU Extension Regional Small Farms Program for “Labor on the Farm” with Emily Asmus of Welcome Table Farm and Seth Hunt from the North Olympic Development Council (NODC) as Part One of a two-part series on farm employee management. The experienced guest speakers will dig into practical strategies for hiring, managing, and supporting farm employees.

Emergency Preparedness Talks: Wildfire Preparedness – Thu, Apr 17th
As the risk of wildfire increases here in Jefferson County, EJFR has expanded its campaign to provide wildfire prevention information to residents. Through understanding of how wildfires move and grow, and how building zones of defensible space around your home can mitigate the impact of wildfire on your property, attendees will be better armed with information and resources to better protect their properties and neighborhoods. Earth Day Beach Cleanup – Sat, Apr 19th
The PTMSC annual Earth Day beach cleanup brings volunteers together from far and wide to clean the beaches and roadways in our area. In partnership with WA CoastSavers, volunteers will be directed to beach locations to collect debris and contribute data on their findings to the Ocean Conservancy’s international database. Quilcene Adopt a Highway Trash Pick Up – Sat, Apr 19th
Quilcene Fair & Parade has Adopted MP 294-296 on Hwy 101 through WSDOT (approx. Cemetery Rd to Pete Beck Rd) and asks for help Cleaning Up Quilcene! Everything is provided – trash bags, plastic gloves, safety vests and bottled water. Consider bringing sun protection and wear comfortable, sturdy shoes. Anyone 15 years and older is welcome – if it’s your first time, please come 15 minutes early. Email with questions or visit the Facebook event page.

Earth Day Festival at the Palindrome – Sat, Apr 19th
The Palindrome at Eaglemount Wine & Cidery is hosting an Earth Day festival to inspire Port Townsend to connect with nature and community. Local environmental groups, native seed advocates, elders, and musicians will gather to sing and plant seeds for the future of the Peace Movement. Class: Soil Care and Water-Wise Routines – Sun, Apr 20th
What is soil? Is it the same as dirt? Why should I care about it? How can I care for it? How does it affect my plants? If you’ve asked yourself any of these questions, this class is for you. This class will explore basic soil science, how healthy soil grows healthy plants, and soil’s connection to water-wise habits. You’ll leave this class with answers to the above questions and a basic plan for how you can care for your own soil throughout the entire year. Registration is required.
