TLAB Meeting – Mon, Apr 28th
The Transportation Lab is a Local 20/20 Action Group working to promote a transportation system that minimizes need for personal motor vehicles. Such a transportation system must be safe, convenient and healthy, and it must be based on: people walking, the most healthful mode; people bicycling, the most efficient mode; mass transit, the most efficient for moving large numbers of people; and private vehicles for providing services and moving small numbers of people. Jefferson County Master Gardener Project Grants Application Deadline – Thu, May 1st
The Jefferson County Master Gardener Foundation offers grants of up to $1000 to cover supplies and materials for gardening, environmental stewardship, food security projects that serve Jefferson County residents. Rico Quirindongo: visionary architect and civic leader – Thu, May 1st *New*
Join Studium Generale East for an inspiring evening with Rico Quirindongo, a visionary architect and civic leader who has spent more than 30 years revitalizing Seattle’s historic landmarks and championing inclusive, community-driven development. Rico will share stories and insights from his work shaping urban spaces that honor history, center equity, and empower communities. This event is free and open to the public, part of Peninsula College’s monthly series designed to spark conversation and connection.

Birding By Ear – Thu, May 1st
Have you ever heard a bird in the forest but couldn’t see it and wondered what it was? Join ornithologist Dr. Jackie Canterbury as she leads tours through Quimper West Preserve in the protected Quimper Wildlife Corridor, and shows how, by training your ear, you can identify birds through their unique songs. There will also be information about the area shared before the walk. There is no cost to attend, but space is limited to 15 people each session, and you must register in advance. Waitlist submissions will be taken. You may sign up for more than one session.

Local 20/20 Climate Group – Thu, May 1st – CANCELED!
The Local 20/20 Climate Group meets monthly, on the first Thursday, in person or online. The group is focused on both reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing for climate impacts.

Interpreting Bird Behavior – Sat, May 3rd
Birds are constantly communicating about what’s happening in the environment through behavior and vocalizations. You, too, can learn the ancient skill of interpreting the voices and movements of birds! Tuition: $45. Full description & registration here. Spring Bloom Walk at Kah Tai Prairie Preserve – Sun, May 4th *New*
In conjunction with Camas Prairie Golf Park’s 151st celebration, the Olympic Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society is leading a walk to see/identify spring blooms at Kah Tai Prairie Preserve. The walk will start at the prairie kiosk and include a longer route to visit other emerging prairie sites and Hastings Pond riparian habitat. For more information send email. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course – Starts Sun, May 4th
Olympic Peninsula Mindfulness is pleased to announce this essential, world-renowned course to help handle the many types of stressful situations and habituals perceptions that we all deal with. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a mindfulness training program that helps us access and strengthen our own inner resources, to more actively engage in the moment, and find greater balance, ease, and peace of mind. This course includes the 6 hour silent Day of Mindfulness retreat on June 21st, 10am – 4pm. This opportunity to practice being present with each other is a highlight of the course! Registration is required.
