*Announcements Editing Team Volunteer Opportunity*
Do you enjoy this newsletter? Do you have a passion for building local sustainability and resilience? Help out by joining our volunteer editing team! Working individually, from the comfort of your home, you can share in the process of reviewing newsletter submissions, editing them for brevity and clarity, and confirming that they remain current. There will be opportunities to be a backup editor and to become lead editor once trained, and also to help implement improvements. The role requires basic writing and computer skills and an interest in supporting our community. Coaching in MailChimp will be provided, and a byline is an option for the lead editor each week. It is a fun and rewarding way to contribute to our community and learn more about what is happening. Time involved is usually about two to six hours per week. Email us to learn more!
This Week
Polystyrene & Low-Density Polyethylene (“Styrofoam”) Recycling – Tues, Aug 6th *New*
Port Townsend StyroCyclers, a Local 20/20 Beyond Waste Project, collects white styrofoam (expanded polystyrene, or EPS), all colors of polyethylene (LDPE-4), white EPS food trays, and separated biodegradable (squishy) packing peanuts, but not crispy (EPS) peanuts, and no mixtures. Clean, dry materials only! Materials are inspected at the curb. Please remove tape, labels, etc., before you arrive, and leave plenty of room between vehicles. Please combine your materials with those of your neighbors and friends to help decrease the number of vehicles coming to these events. Email the organizers with questions, and check their Facebook page for weather cancellations and later recycling event dates. The next styrofoam recycling event will be held on August 16th; see below. Volunteer with Port Townsend StyroCyclers! Volunteers can have flexible schedules.
Time: 10 am – noon | Location: Battery Putnam, near Alexander’s Castle, at 229 Alexander’s Loop, Fort Worden, Port Townsend. (Park your vehicle in the middle of the street in front of the battery.)
