Saturday, March 9th, 3 – 4:30pm
Come celebrate history at the Uptown Courtyard! A mixed-media mural will be installed on Saturday, March 9th at 1033 Lawrence Street. This collaborative artwork centers on a theme of beauty growing through community creativity. Adrianna Santiago and Suzanne Jones initiated this volunteer project through their cooperative organizing of the local Intergenerational Art Movement (IAM). The IAM group can be found at the Uptown Chester Square Courtyard during summer months. Free creative materials and an inclusive atmosphere are provided.
The inspiration for the name of the courtyard, “Chester Square” commemorates property owner Malcolm Dorn’s dog Chester. Over 40 volunteers worked on the project, spanning nearly a year. In celebration, an Installation Happening will be held at 3 pm, and refreshments will be served at 3:30 pm. All are Welcome!
