Breaking News: Port Townsend Styrocyclers have Merged with Local 20/20!
Local 20/20 is excited to announcement that the Port Townsend StyroCyclers, which has been recycling Styrofoam in Jefferson County since 2021 is now part of Local 20/20, a project in our Beyond Waste action group! The Port Townsend Styrocyclers, which have recycled over 5 tons of styrofoam since October 2021, were looking for a more sustainable structure. Local 20/20 recognized how well it fit with our mission of “Working together to foster a regenerative, sustainable, resilient and compassionate community in Jefferson County through both action and education”, as a clear sustainable and regenerative action! Welcome, Port Townsend Styrocyclers!

Citizens for Healthcare Access Monthly Meeting *New* – Mon, Feb 20th
Local 20/20’s Citizens Healthcare Access Group (CHA) is a long running forum of people from the community concerned about healthcare access in Jefferson County. Discussion topics include Charity Care issues at the hospital, Legislative actions supporting local healthcare, public health issues, dental care, mental health and more. There is no membership needed, the public is welcome. Contact Angela for the Zoom link to the meeting if interested, along with historical background on the group.

Jefferson County Sea Level Rise Study Meeting – Tues, Feb 21st
Jefferson County is conducting a vulnerability assessment to identify areas of the County that are most vulnerable to sea level rise, address potential risks, and identify strategies that may be applicable for addressing these risks. Results will be used to inform policies and plans to build community resilience to coastal flooding. This presentation by the project team will be followed by a Q&A session and opportunities to share feedback. The presentation will include learning sea level rise projections for the county; viewing hazard maps and sharing experiences with flooding; and identifying priorities for coastal planning and management. Meet the Chemakum Tribe and view “Doctrine of Recovery” – Sat, Feb 25th *New*
Join members of the Chemakum Tribe, original inhabitants of the North Olympic Peninsula, for a gathering on the traditional territory of the Chemakum peoples.
Rosalee Walz, Chair of the Chemakum Tribal Council, will open the afternoon, with an update on the Tribe’s re-emergence. Afterwards, Doctrine of Recovery a film exploring the effects of colonization and pathways to healing will be shown followed by responses to the film by members of the Chemakum Tribe. Questions will be answered after comments. Also, new portraits of the Chemakum will be on display.
Donations are gratefully accepted and all are welcome. Proceeds will go to Chemakum Tribal Services.

Volunteers Needed – Dabob Days Tree Planting – Sat, Feb 25th *New*
Support ongoing restoration of your local watersheds by volunteering at monthly Dabob Days projects with Northwest Watershed Institute! Volunteers will be planting trees and installing protective plant cages at the Tarboo Wildlife Preserve.
