Yard and Garden Lecture with Jane Billinghurst on Forest Ecosystems – Sat, Feb 11th
The 2023 Yard & Garden Virtual Lecture Series launches with an illustrated presentation on forest ecosystems by Skagit County Master Gardener Jane Billinghurst. Her latest book, Forest Walking, co-authored by Peter Wohlleben, is about forests throughout North America. Sponsored by the Jefferson County Master Gardener Program, this is the first of six Saturday morning live webinars. Notable gardeners, authors, and educators take a deep dive into forest life, growing vegetables all year long, tips and tricks of the flower trade, why and how to choose plants for the garden, attracting beneficial insects, and the impact of climate change on life in local gardens. Each lecture is followed by audience Q and A. Talks are recorded and made available for three weeks. Purchase tickets here. The entire six-lecture series for $60 ot this single session for $12. Ticket sales support the Jefferson County Master Gardener Foundation. The series is co-sponsored by WSU Jefferson County Extension.

Love Your Earth, Valentine’s Cupid Cleanup – Sat, Feb 11th
Come show some love for Earth this Valentine’s Day! Join PTMSC and the JeffCo Trash Task Force in cleaning up Downtown Port Townsend’s streets and beaches February 11th from 11-1 PM! Check-in 11 AM at Haines Place Park-and-Ride (next to Safeway) to receive supplies and cleanup locations! At 1 PM, meet the Pourhouse (21+) to celebrate hard work with a free drink and a slice of pizza from the Pizza Factory. The Cupid Cleanup is sponsored by the PT Pizza Factory and the Pourhouse, where trash will be collected and weighed.
