Volunteer Orientation: Department of Emergency Management – Wed, Jan 28th
Join a community of volunteers working together to support a variety of emergency preparedness & response efforts in Jefferson County. Seeking volunteers interested in amateur/HAM radio, those with medical backgrounds (doctor, nurse, EMT, etc.), other emergency response (firefighters, Incident Command System) or other specialized skills. If you do not have any specialized experience, DEM can assist in finding the best program to fit your interests and experience. This is a great way to create connections & learn new skills. Dessert Auction Fundraiser for YMCA Building Futures Mentorship Program – Wed, Jan 28th *New*
The sweet things in life happen because of relationships. Build a strong foundation for youth by supporting Building Futures, the YMCA’s school-based mentoring program. Low Tide Walks At Night – Fri, Jan 30th
Find out what marine critters get up to after dark! Join us for a guided low tide walk led by PTMSC staff and volunteers. Please note, RSVP is required. Donations appreciated. Contact Carolyn Woods with any questions. Bring: Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear, flashlight and/or headlamp.

Mindful Self-Compassion After School Program – Enrollment now open
The Benji Project is offering a Winter After School Mindful Self Compassion Program at the Jefferson County Library for 11-14 year olds. The program will take place on Wednesday afternoons for 8 weeks starting February 4 and ending on April 1 with a break on February 18. Discover mindful self-compassion through art, games, and reflection. Explore ways to navigate the ups and downs of life through fun activities in a supportive community. Register here.

Local 20/20 Weekly Announcements invites local photographers to submit images that capture the character of our community and its natural setting. For the opening photo of each weekly email (which is also posted to our website), we seek local color, horizontal (“landscape”) orientation, and jpeg format. Please no children, pets, or recognizable faces. Kindly email your photos, including your name in the jpeg filename. If you’re sending multiple images, please send one per email.
