This Week Local 20/20 Climate Working Group Meeting – Mon, July 31st The Local 20/20 Climate working group’s scope includes reducing greenhouse gases, increasing carbon sequestration, and preparing for climate impacts. Each month, Quimper Community Housing Collective (QCHC) will host an open, inclusive discussion on housing policy with an eye towards developing a systemic understanding of different housing policies from a housing justice perspective. We will practice centering those most impacted by the housing crisis in these conversations. All are welcome! We will be beautifying the rain garden by mulching, weeding, and removing overgrowth. Maintaining the rain garden ensures that it continues to do its job filtering contaminants out of stormwater before it reaches the Puget Sound. Jill will review the effects of pesticides on pollinators, soil and human microbiome and how we as a community can affect change. Presenter: Jill Allison – Jill has a background in science and medicine which adds to her understanding of the interactions (and the biology and chemistry) relating to the interactions between soil health, pollinator health and human health. Jill has a B.S. in biology, graduate studies in bacteriology and public health and a Master’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Registration. Time: 5pm | Location: Online Veterans for Peace Activist Speaks in Port Townsend – Fri, Aug 4th *New* Ann Wright served 29 years in the US Army/Army Reserves, 16 years in the US diplomatic corps. She was one of three US diplomats who resigned in March, 2003 in opposition to the war on Iraq. She felt that without the authorization of the UN Security Council, the US invasion and occupation of an oil-rich, Arab Moslem country would be a disaster, a war of aggression, a war crime. Her current activities included the Peace in Ukraine summit in Vienna, Global Women for Peace United Against NATO in Brussels, Irish Neutrality in Dublin and the Gaza Flotilla in Liverpool plus short trips to Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine!!!
