Presentation about PT Gleaners: Gleaners Clean Up! – Tue, Jul 8th
Do you have questions about gleaning? Want to become a gleaner or prevent your own fruit from going to waste? Every summer, PT Gleaners pick 1000s of pounds of fruit and distribute it to local schools and other organizations. Hear the story of the PT Gleaners – how they got started, how they get organized, the skills and safety requirements, and the annual production of hundreds of jars of applesauce. Doug Van Allen, Suzanne Wilson, and Janice Koon are experienced orchard & community gleaners. Discover how you can become part of the food security solution! All are welcome – the Quimper Grange has ADA access and an outstanding Merv-13 air filtration system.

Peninsula Trails Coalition Open House – Wed, Jul 9th *New*
Open house, displays, maps & updates, followed by a Board of Directors Meeting. Visit with trail users and enthusiasts to share experiences, get updates on exciting trail projects and more! Bring your ideas and questions to this in-person meeting being held at the Jefferson County Public Transit Office (a lovely space). Snacks and beverages will be available. All are welcome to attend.

Volunteer Orientation: Department of Emergency Management – Thu, Jul 10th *New*
Join a community of volunteers working together to support a variety of emergency preparedness & response efforts in Jefferson County. Seeking volunteers interested in amateur/HAM radio, those with medical backgrounds (doctor, nurse, EMT, etc.), other emergency response (firefighters, Incident Command System) or other specialized skills. If you do not have any specialized experience, we can assist in finding the best program to fit your interests and experience. This is a great way to create connections & learn new skills. Trail Work Party at Anderson Lake State Park – Thu, Jul 10th
Help clear and restore Trail A, where it branches off the Savage Trail—no water exposure, just forested beauty and a bit of salal and wild rose in need of trimming! What to bring: pruners, trimmers, or loppers, protective clothing (watch out for stinging nettle), gloves, water, and a smile!

Puget Sound to the Pacific Trails Collaborative – Thu, Jul 10th
At this public meeting of East Jefferson County Trails Connections, Steve Durrant, Program Director for PS2P, will present the status of the 2023 RAISE grant including details about each jurisdiction’s administrative steps and a review of the timeline for the design and engineering components for each of the trail gaps that will be starting in 2025 and 2026. Upcoming deadlines and engagement opportunities will also be presented. There will also be a discussion of the options from Hood Canal Bridge to Discovery Bay via the Tri-Area, and an update on the status of present construction of Milo Curry to Anderson Lake State Park.

Clamming at Fort Flagler – Fri, Jul 11th
Explore and harvest local clams at the lower campground of Fort Flagler next to the Beachcomber Café. You’ll learn how to identify local shellfish, discuss the common harvest tools and how to use them, how to read a tide table book and why! Learn how to care for your catch after harvest and finally a few suggested ways to prepare them. You’ll need a #2 shovel, a bucket, gloves, and a shellfish license if you’re 16 or older or a nonresident of any age.

All community members are invited to an Open House, where you can explore our new space and discover a wide array of tools now at your fingertips. This is not just an opportunity to tour the library; it’s a chance to discover the resources that can empower you for your next DIY project, home improvement task, or repair and reuse project. Speaker Presentation: Supporting Native Bee Nesting Habitat – Sat, Jul 12th
The Kul Kah Han Native Plant Garden is excited to present a bi-monthly speaker series focusing on the importance of planting native plants in your garden. The speaker for this installment is Kris Ethington, Garden For Nature.
All talks will be held rain or shine! There is some seating in the shelter but feel free to bring a lawn chair.

Dive! Into a Book Club Series – starting Sun, Jul 13th *New*
Interested in a marine themed book club? One Sunday a month through October, PTMSC invites you to join as we dive into a variety of marine related topics! Get lost in titles that bring the evocative sea right to you. Through communication and connection, we can explore the ways in which the ocean intertwines us all.
