Polystyrene & Low-Density Polyethylene (“Styrofoam”) Recycling – Tues, Jun 4th *New*
Port Townsend StyroCyclers, a Local 20/20 Beyond Waste Project, collects white styrofoam (expanded polystyrene, or EPS), all colors of polyethylene (LDPE-4), white EPS food trays, and separated biodegradable (squishy) packing peanuts, but not crispy (EPS) peanuts, and no mixtures. Clean, dry materials only! Materials are inspected at the curb. Please remove tape, labels, etc., before you arrive, and leave plenty of room between vehicles. Please combine your materials with those of your neighbors and friends to help decrease the number of vehicles coming to these events. Email the organizers with questions, and check their Facebook page for weather cancellations and later recycling event dates. (Volunteer with Port Townsend StyroCyclers! Volunteers can have flexible schedules.)

Local 20/20 Beyond Waste Group Meeting – Wed, Jun 5th
The Beyond Waste Action Group looks at a number of issues including food waste composting, plastics reduction and recycling, reduction of garbage on an individual and community level, and various other waste-related topics that spontaneously come up during the meeting. Meetings are on the first Wednesday of the month. Newcomers are always welcome. Email Lisa for info on monthly agenda and zoom link.

Health & Wellness Group Meeting – Wed, Jun 5th
The Health & Wellness Action Group, also known as Citizens for Healthcare Access, is a Local 20/20 Action Group working to promote health and healthcare access in East Jefferson County, with a particular focus on local, affordable, quality healthcare, including behavioral and dental healthcare. The group generally meets monthly, on the first Wednesday of the month, via Zoom. To get on the email list, please send an email here. Being on this email list also means having access to member notes taken at Jefferson Healthcare Hospital Commission meetings and Jefferson County Public Health meetings. It’s a great way to stay informed on healthcare-related developments in the county.

Studium Generale East Speaker Series – Thurs, Jun 6th
Peninsula College Port Townsend (PCPT) and Centrum at Fort Worden are thrilled to welcome Port Townsend Film Festival (PTFF) Executive Director, Danielle McClelland, as their June guest to the Studium Generale East speaker series. “Danni” has spent thirty years organizing and presenting film and live events. In addition, they have taught Art & Social Change as an adjunct professor, consulted with civic entities on the power of building arts infrastructure, and worked professionally as a writer, director, and performer. Local 20/20 Climate Group Meeting – Thurs, Jun 6th
The Local 20/20 Climate Action Group‘s scope includes reducing greenhouse gases, increasing carbon sequestration, and preparing for climate impacts. Newcomers are most welcome! “Lean into the Skid”: A Community Conflict Mediation Training – Fri – Sun, Jun 7th – 9th
Lean into the Skid is designed to build your skills, confidence, and clarity around how to support others in conflict. This training is for people who: have a natural skill for holding multiple perspectives; want to support the cohesion and harmony of their community or organization; and wish they had a more concrete process to lean on for navigating conflict in community. Port Townsend Pride Event – Sat, Jun 8th *New*
The Northeastern tip of the Olympic Peninsula celebrates LGBTQ+ Pride with style! It will be a family-friendly, all-ages, fun event, featuring a wide array of performances and live music, over 40 booths, kids zone, sensory tent, delicious food, and fantastic drinks. Fort Worden BioBlitz: Forest to Sea – Sat, Jun 8th *New*
Help document the wild at Fort Worden State Park! The event will begin when the park opens (6:30 am) and will end when the park closes (9:45 pm). Come to the Kitchen Shelter from 10 am to 4 pm for an in-person celebration of citizen science and stewardship. Booths will be set up in the shelter with experts in various biological fields to assist with identification and answer questions. This is a free event, and a Free Day for Washington State Parks! Guided Low Tide Walk with PTMSC – Sat, Jun 8th, and Sun, Jun 23rd
Join the Port Townsend Marine Science Center (PTMSC) for a guided walk on the beach at low tide with PTMSC naturalists. Witness the unique adaptations for life to survive and thrive in the intertidal zone. Registration is required.
