December is shaping up to be quite the month for higher tides, as is common. We had a second one on 12/10, and another one is scheduled for Christmas Day (we’ll see how the weather elements shape up.) On Dec 10th the tide was 9.55′ predicted, 11.00′ observed, and that gave us another chance to visualize the higher sea levels that will become more often in the future due to global sea level rise, and a few of Local 20/20’s Climate Group volunteers were out there early in the morning to capture it. You can learn more about the project in this post. The photos from the project are shared on the MyCoast website (you can zoom in on the map to find the Port Townsend photos.)
Below is Dave Wilkinson’s summary of the December 10, 2022 event, featuring photos from Barney Burke.
