Port Townsend experienced a higher than usual tide, or King Tide, on November 26. King Tides offer a chance to visualize the effects of a rising sea level, and Local 20/20’s Climate Action Group regularly monitors these tides. You can learn more about the project in this post. The photos from the project are shared on a website set up by Washington Sea Grant.
Below is Dave Wilkinson’s summary of the November 26, 2018 tide, featuring photos from Barney Burke and Jeff Taylor.
It’s great to see this here on the Local 20/20 website. It’s both educational and horrifying in a county with so many miles of shoreline and much of it unsustainably armored.
Thanks, Carol, for the comment! Our plan is to post all future king tide events that we photograph to the website, along with Dave Wilkinson’s detailed analysis.
