Food System Council Open Meeting – Local 20/20 – Thurs March 28th: The Local Food System Council, an Action Group of Local 2020, will open its monthly meeting to the public. The educational portion of the meeting will be on the topic of Networking and Network Weaving. While the Food Council is a network by nature of its membership, networking with the larger community of food system participants as well as eaters is essential to the successful effort to shift our food system toward greater localization. After a description of how networks can be effective in creating significant systemic changes, the Food Council will engage in a visioning/brainstorming exercise to imagine the network development potential in establishing a locally based Food Hub. For an example of a dynamic Food Hub operating in Rhode Island see this link.: For more information or questions click here. .

Local Initiatives Action Group – Local 20/20 – Mon April 1st: Local Initiatives Action Group is facilitating community action by providing logistical support for direct action on pressing issues. The global problem is a product of large-scale, centralized ideology. By building small-scale, decentralized solutions on the community level, we can create here in Jefferson County a model for communities everywhere Community projects of this kind will initiate a change in the current of our society in ways the political process simply cannot. We are open to discuss proposed projects and are currently working on the logistics of the plastic recycling project at hand. Bring your experience, skills and ideas for action!
