The Benji Project Spring Break Programs – Tue, Apr 1st & Thu Apr 3rd
The Benji Project is offering free spring break programming at Quilcene Community Center for 6th-12th graders. The programs take place on Tuesday, April 1 and Thursday, April 3 from 12-5PM with lunch included. Mindfulness in Nature will take place on April 1. There will be fun outdoor activities to connect with yourself and nature. April 3 will be Mindfulness through Art with opportunities to explore visual arts and theater activities that can help manage stress. Visit the website for more information and registration.

Beyond Waste Action Group Meeting – Wed, Apr 2nd
The Beyond Waste Action Group meets the first Wednesday of each month at 10:30 a.m.-12:00 pm via zoom. The group looks at a number of issues including food-waste composting, plastics reduction and recycling, reduction of garbage on an individual and community level, and various other waste-related topics that spontaneously come up during the meeting. “Studium Generale” Presentation: Van Lelyveld – Thu, Apr 3rd *New*
Van Lelyveld, a passionate visual storyteller, will share his journey as a filmmaker dedicated to illuminating the human condition. His work delves into real-life struggles and triumphs, touching on critical issues of social justice, addiction, and resilience. Driven by a desire to use film as a powerful medium for change, Van Lelyveld’s films have garnered accolades at film festivals in the U.S. and abroad. This event is free and open to the public. Local 20/20 Climate Group – Thu, Apr 3rd
The Local 20/20 Climate Group meets monthly, on the first Thursday, in person or online. The group is focused on both reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing for climate impacts.

Searching for Seaweed Workshop – Fri, Apr 4th
Learn the rules of recreational seaweed harvesting, edible seaweed identification, and some cooking tips! Join the Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee and WA State Department of Fish and Wildlife to learn about the different types of edible seaweeds, where to find them, how to harvest safely and sustainably, and the basic rules and regulations to follow to help ensure seaweed harvests into the future. There will be a short presentation, then you will search for seaweed on the beach! Directions, parking, and other details will be sent to all registrants. You will need a current WDFW shellfish/seaweed license, bucket, and mud boots for the event. This public event is free, however, space is limited – Register to reserve your spot. Food Bank Growers Spring Plant Sale – Sat, Apr 5th *New*
FBG Plant sales are more than just fundraisers — they are a way to directly feed our community! Every purchase helps fund FBG gardens to provide fresh, healthy food to food banks and other entities. By helping with these events, you’re investing in local sustainability, supporting neighbors, and ensuring that everyone has access to nutritious, homegrown produce. We have an exciting and bountiful presentation this Spring with many vegetable starts, berries, herbs, flowers, and other plants ready to put in the ground, and are also pleased to host the Master Gardener’s Plant Clinic and the WSU Seed Library at this event.

The PT Indivisible group is joining with other organizations around the country to protest attacks on Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, Public Lands, Clean Energy, LGPTQ+ rights, and more. Bring signs, friends, and noisemakers! This is a strictly peaceful protest. Learn more here.

Collective Liberation: A Journey of Healing and Hope in Israel/Palestine – Sun, Apr 6th *New*
Osama Iliwat, Amit Shilo and Chloe Nahas from Salt of the Earth will discuss their collective efforts as Palestinians and Israelis to build a lasting peace in the region. The Zoom call follows the last minute cancellation of a scheduled US West Coast tour when Osama was denied entry into the United States by US embassy officials.
