NOSC Dungeness River Volunteer Planting Event – Sat and Sun, Mar 4th-5th
Join the Salmon Coalition in planting and mulching native trees and shrubs at a volunteer event along the Dungeness River in Sequim. NOSC is aiming to plant nearly 12,000 trees and shrubs for the revegetation efforts at the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s new side channel. The Caldero side channel provides nearly 1000 feet of critical off channel habitat for salmon, giving them a quiet escape from the main channel and the hazards of floods. They invite you to add your hands and hearts to this amazing restoration story by planting with us this winter. Join them for one or both days!

This free program is presented in collaboration with the Friends of Fort Flagler. The presenter is PTMSC’s Aquarium Curator, Ali Redman, who studied marine conservation at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and UC San Diego. Meaningful Movies Presents “The Lost Salmon” – Thurs Mar 9th
Join Meaningful Movies Port Townsend and Native Connections Action Group in our celebration of Billy Frank Jr. Day with their online screening of The Lost Salmon. Of all the Pacific Salmon, the spring run of chinook is the most revered. As the first salmon to return home each year, they have always been a sacrament for the oldest civilizations in North America and the keystone of Northwest ecosystems.
In The Lost Salmon, filmmaker Shane Anderson set out on a two-year journey across Washington, Oregon, California, and Idaho to document some of the last wild “springers”, the historical and ongoing causes of their declining numbers, and their profound relationship to the people and places of the Pacific Northwest. Along the way, Anderson tells the story of a recent scientific breakthrough that provides crucial new insights into salmon genetics and offers an important path forward to help save the king of salmon before they are lost forever.
