Speaker: Barb Trafton, Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation – Thu, May 8th *New*
Barb Trafton has led the Foundation in helping to build over 11 miles of trails on Bainbridge Island. BIPTF strives to be a nimble problem-solver in supporting the expansion of public trails on the island and connecting to North Kitsap and Jefferson and Clallam counties, as well as to Seattle via Washington State Ferries. As a guest of the Peninsula Trails Coalition, Barb will share BIPTF’s vision and practices in leading the acquisition of trail easements, engaging in funding, constructing trails and provide updates about trail related advocacy.

The Simple and Ancient Art of Bonsai – Thu, May 8th
Retired Navy Hospital Corpsman and bonsai artist Chris Bates will talk about the basic bonsai tools and pot styles as well as demonstrate wiring and pruning techniques on a tree in progress. Come to be inspired by examples from his collection while learning about this ancient Japanese art form that mimics nature on a small scale. For more information visit the website.

The Benji Project’s Festival of Hearts – Sat May 10th *New*
A benefit for The Benji Project’s programs, supporting the mental health and well-being of Jefferson County young people and families. Experience beautiful bites imagined by Chef Arran Stark and a participatory art project highlighting the visionary power of community. Speaker Presentation: “Olympic Peninsula Prairies” – Sat, May 10th
The Kul Kah Han Native Plant Garden is excited to present a bi-monthly speaker series focusing on the importance of planting native plants in your garden. The speaker for this installment is Forest Shomer, owner of Inside Passage Seeds.
All talks will be held rain or shine! There is some seating in the shelter but feel free to bring a lawn chair.
