A.I.R.E. Artwork Reveal – Wed, Oct 16th *New*
You are invited to attend a REVEAL of the exquisite artwork created by star artist Margie McDonald, the second Artist in Residence at the Transfer Station. Come learn about the program, see and hear about Margie’s process and experience, and help celebrate the completion of A.I.R.E.’s (Artist in Residence and Educational Program) second year! Presentation of Findings from Community Housing Survey – Wed, Oct 16th
Housing Solutions Network will present the findings from their Community Housing Survey, which explores local housing needs, economic impacts, and includes personal stories from Jefferson County residents. Sea Lions of the Salish Sea via Zoom – Wed, Oct 16th
Join Casey Mclean from SR3 via Zoom to learn about the fascinating lives of the different species of sea lions that frequent our waters. Two species of sea lions can be found in the Salish Sea. Learn about these amazing pinnipeds and their important role in a healthy ecosystem. Casey has over 12 years of experience working with marine animals and is the Executive Director of SR3, Washington’s first dedicated marine animal hospital. Submit questions for WA Senate candidate debate – Thu, Oct 17th *Updated*
KIRO 7 and the League of Women Voters of Washington Education Fund are partnering to host a live, one-hour debate with Washington U.S. Senate candidates Senator Maria Cantwell and Dr. Raul Garcia. The debate will air live on Thursday, October 17, at 12 pm, with a re-airing at 7 pm.
Submit questions to the candidates by noon on Oct 17th at www.kiro7.com/debate or by emailing questions to the League at forumquestion@lwvwa.org. Questions should be answerable by both candidates, be relevant to the elected position, and include the voter’s name and city of residence.

Open Day Far Reaches Botanical Conservancy – Fri, Oct 18th *New*
Far Reaches Botanical Conservancy invites all to visit the gardens for a rare “open day”. The Conservancy acquires and conserves botanically significant wild and curated ornamental plants, with special emphasis on those that are threatened or vulnerable to loss and are new to North America. These plants are maintained as a living reference collection for education, public enjoyment and scientific purposes. A small selection of plants will be available for purchase.

Virtual Q&A with Dr. Caroline Collins: Uncovering Histories of the Black Pacific – Sat Oct 19th
Join the Jefferson County Historical Society for an engaging discussion with Dr. Caroline Collins, curator of the exhibition “Take Me to the Water: Histories of the Black Pacific,” currently on view at the JCHS Museum of Art + History through October 27th. During this Zoom event, Dr. Collins will be in conversation with JCHS staff about exhibition topics and their relationship to the Olympic Peninsula. Kul Kah Han Native Demonstration Garden Fall Plant Sale – Sat Oct 19th
The Kul Kah Han Native Demonstration Garden is having their fall plant sale on Saturday, October 19 from 11- 2pm at H.J. Carroll Park in Chimacum. They will be selling locally raised native perennial plants, shrubs and trees grown in their small nursery in Chimacum. All funds go toward supporting the care of the native plant demonstration garden and nursery.

Brinnon Repair Event – Sat, Oct 19th
Join Jefferson County Repair for this free community gathering in which people with repair skills share their time and talents to fix their neighbors’ belongings. Bring your toaster that no longer toasts, sweater with a hole in the elbow, and excitement to get these belongings repaired while also learning how they did it and ways you could do it yourself next time! Polystyrene & Low-Density Polyethylene Recycling – Sat, Oct 19th *New*
Port Townsend StyroCyclers, a Local 20/20 Beyond Waste Project, collects white styrofoam (expanded polystyrene, or EPS), all colors of polyethylene (LDPE-4), white EPS food trays, and separated biodegradable (squishy) packing peanuts, but not crispy (EPS) peanuts, and no mixtures. Materials are inspected at the curb, and only clean and dry materials are accepted. Please remove all tape, labels, etc., before you arrive, and please leave plenty of room between vehicles. Email the organizers with questions, and check their Facebook page for weather cancellations.
