The monthly Local 20/20 Steering Council meeting is open to all and welcomes those interested in involvement in Local 20/20 leadership. Newcomers are always welcome. Weaving Place Based Networks for the Bioregional Health of Salmon Nation – Thurs, Oct 19th, and Fri, Oct. 20th *Updated*
United Earth Networks will host Regenerate Cascadia host during their Port Townsend stop on their Regenerate Cascadia Bioregional Tour. Joe Brewer from the Design School for Regenerating Earth will be joining them for two nights, to connect with the community in Chimacum and Port Townsend. Joe and his team will offer a presentation to weave, highlight and empower amazing place-based networks, innovations, and on-the-ground work happening across watersheds in the Cascadia bioregion. Learn about cutting edge work to regenerate Cascadia that is happening all around the Salish Sea and near surroundings. They will be midway through their grand tour throughout Cascadia as they travel to fourteen different communities in the region in October, all leading into an online summit November 3rd through 12th. Learn about what is happening in our bioregion. Attendance will be free or by donation for the public, with no one turned away for lack of funds. Questions? Ask Rose (707-498-3103).

“Living With Sea Level Rise” Shore Friendly Workshop – Sat, Oct 21st
Shoreline property owners of East Jefferson County are invited to join the Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee and the NW Straits Shore Friendly program for a “Living With Sea Level Rise” Shore Friendly workshop. This workshop will include a beach walk followed by classroom presentations featuring speakers from Herrera Environmental. Topics covered will include shoreline responses to sea level rise, alternatives to shoreline armoring, and using native vegetation for erosion protection and habitat enhancement. Free Housing Seminar for Tenants and Landlords – Sat, Oct 21st
Presentations and resources provided by Housing Solutions Network, Peninsula Housing Authority, Townsend Bay Property Management, and Clallam Jefferson Pro Bono Lawyers. Free legal consultation will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. Come for a presentation or stay for the entire morning. Native Plant Sale and Fundraiser for Kul Kah Han Native Plant Garden – Sat, Oct 21st
Fall is a great time for planting! Kul Kah Han Native Plant Garden’s passion is to inspire and guide the regional community toward the appreciation, cultivation, and use of plants native to the Pacific Northwest. They will have for sale a variety of trees, shrubs, and perennials native to the PNW. Let their knowledgeable volunteers and written handouts help you choose plants for pollinators, sun, shade, and drought tolerance. This will be a great time to ask questions about the garden, give suggestions, and ask for a tour! Learn more about the garden here.

Last Plastic Recycling Pop-Up Drop-Off – Sat, Oct 21st
PT Potential thanks you for all your support. Together they have already diverted over 800 lbs of caps and lids! They have made the difficult decision to pause the pop-up drop-offs and to resume in the springtime. The last drop-off will be October 21st. They have lots of shredding to catch up on and have been concentrating a good portion of their time on fabricating an injection machine and moving their shop.More info here.

Swami Beyondananda Cosmic Comedy Performance – Sun, Oct 22nd
Back by popular demand! Steve Bhaerman is performing his cosmic comedy as Swami Beyondananda for a one-day only matinee performance. Back in action, the Swami will entertain and enlighten you about the current events of the day in a hilarious comedy show. This will be followed by an insightful community discussion about how we can all participate in making the world a better place and making a difference in this vibrant community we all call home.
