Disaster Preparedness Workshop Series – Local 20/20 – next one- Wed October 23rd:
Are you prepared for a disaster? If not, come to these hands-on, detailed workshops in emergency preparedness. Local 20/20’s NPREP (Neighborhood Preparedness in Emergency Planning) Training Team, along with our friends at the Quimper Grange #720 are co-hosting a fall 2019 seven-week series in Emergency Preparedness. Sessions are ala carte; attend one, more than one or all of them! See also the Local 20/20 website for more info.
October 23 – Personal Safety: How to safely plan for your own and your home’s safety, learning what your options are.
October 30 – How to store/treat water, practice safe sanitation and proper use of propane and generators post-disaster.
November 6 – Camping in your House: Setting up camp in your home, if it is a safe place.

Climate Change Preparedness Action Group – Local 20/20 – Mon October 28th:
Interested in learning more about how climate change will impact Jefferson County, and what we can do as a community to prepare? Attend our monthly meeting, generally on the 4th Monday of the month, to learn about current projects and how to get involved. At the conference room of First Federal Bank. Climate on Tap – Mon November 4th:
Co-sponsored by Local 20/20 Climate Action and Jefferson County Public Health, this is not a lecture series, but a book club & discussion format. Each session includes information to get the conversation started, followed by group discussions that include what locals think and what locals plan to do. Repair Cafe: 2nd Planning meeting – Wed November 6th:
A Repair Cafe is a community event where people come with their broken goods in need of repair. Specialists are willing and ready to share their knowledge and hopefully fix or mend your item. Throw it away? No Way! Snacks and conversation will be included!! The very first Repair Cafe in Port Townsend is scheduled for 2/29/2020. Save the date! We had a great turn out for our first meeting but welcome anyone who is interested in attending this one. For questions and location information contact Tracy.
Local 20/20 Open House – Sunday November 10th:
We invite all to join us at a Local 20/20 Open House to learn more about who we are and how our 11 action groups are working together toward local sustainability and community resilience. There will be opportunities to learn about all of our different action groups, a variety of workshops, light refreshments, and more! We encourage individuals and organizations to come add your ideas to the mix, look for opportunities to plug in with what ignites your passions and propose new collaborations! Watch our website and these announcements for more details. Please bring your own utensils/napkin so we can make this a zero waste event, and consider carpooling/biking/walking there to minimize the event’s carbon footprint!
