Community Climate Listening Session with WA Climate Partnership – Thu Sept 3rd
The Washington Climate Partnership and Port Townsend/Jefferson County Climate Action Committee would like to invite you to an upcoming Community Climate Listening Session. This event brings together community members, local organizations, and partners to highlight state and local climate planning and action efforts and gather input to help shape climate action priorities across the state and region. Participants will learn about the state’s recently published Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) and local climate mitigation efforts, and have the chance to share barriers, opportunities, and successes directly with state agencies. It’s ALL about SOIL! – Wed, Sep 2nd, Thu, Sep 3rd
The WSU Jefferson County Master Gardener Program is proud to host James Cassidy, Oregon State University soil scientist and researcher. He will deliver an engaging presentation on the remarkable role soil plays in our everyday lives. Learn how soil forms, how it stores water and nutrients, what nutrients actually are, and why soil is fundamental to life on Earth. Along the way, you’ll gain a new appreciation for the ground beneath your feet and the critical importance of soil conservation worldwide. This event is for everyone: farmers, gardeners, and curious humans alike. No one leaves unsoiled! Suggested donation $10 – $15, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Orca Celebration at Finnriver – Sun, Sep 6th
Free, family friendly crafts, dancing and more, and Dana Lyons concert ($5 cover). Hosted by North Olympic Orca Pod.
3-4 pm, Make an orca hat, orca dance party outside and more!
4-5 pm, Tabling about Salish Sea Orcas with community groups.
5-7 pm, Dana Lyons, folksinger and orca advocate concert ($5 cover charge, no one turned away for lack of funds).

Calling Local Photographers!
Local 20/20 Weekly Announcements invites local photographers to submit images that capture the character of our community and its natural setting. For the opening photo of each weekly email (which is also posted to our website), we seek local color, horizontal (“landscape”) orientation, and jpeg format. Please no children, pets, or recognizable faces. Kindly email your photos, including your name in the jpeg filename. If you’re sending multiple images, please send one per email. We are an all-volunteer non-profit, so compensation for your talent and generosity is a photo credit and our profound thanks.
