Mindfulness on Land and Sea: Summer Camp – Jul 27th-31st
The Benji Project partners with Northwest Maritime to offer “Mindfulness on Land and Sea.” This Summer day camp blends mindfulness, self-compassion, art, games, and experiences in nature. Campers will explore beaches and trails, learn formal and informal meditation practices for managing stress and anxiety, and take to the water in a longboat with licensed Captain Nancy Israel and instructors Eden Trenor and Steve Baird. Guest teacher Sabrina McQuillen Hill of the Makah Nation will share the living history of the Canoe Journey, with an optional day witnessing the Canoe Journey landing on July 25th. Space is limited to 11 participants. Monday through Friday, extends to Saturday, July 25th for the Canoe Journey Landing.

What Do We Want in a New City Manager? – Wed, Jul 29th *New*
In the wake of the recent resignation of Port Townsend’s City Manager, how can Port Townsend as a community reflect, process and discuss what is desired out of a search for a replacement? City Council will be holding a special workshop session to discuss the transition process. Join the City Council at Housing Happy Hour to followup on this discussion and collectively explore what an ideal candidate would look like. Send email with any questions.

Free Concert: Grateful for Growers – Sun, Aug 2nd *New*
A free concert to protect Port Townsend’s growing spaces and honor the people working the land. Ash Devine is an accomplished songwriter, ukulele and guitar player, performance artist, educator, and community-based arts facilitator whose work is influenced by her upbringing in the Blue Ridge mountains, and by her international travels to perform in health care facilities with Patch Adams M.D. She also has deep roots in Port Townsend, where she lived for years. The concert is free, but donations are appreciated. Please bring your instruments and join Ash for an old time Appalachian style folk jam. Local 20/20 Weekly Announcements invites local photographers to submit images that capture the character of our community and its natural setting. For the opening photo of each weekly email (which is also posted to our website), we seek local color, horizontal (“landscape”) orientation, and jpeg format.
