Welcome to the Happy Valley Community Garden, located on Center Street at San Juan Avenue, hosted by the Unity Church of Port Townsend, and tended by fifteen neighborhood or church members.

Started in 2009, several neighborhood families and the then-pastor of the former host church met to conceptualize the garden. They cleared 7000 square feet of quack grass and glacial rock, rototilled, fenced, amended the soil, planted border sun flowers, built raised beds, and planted their first crops that spring.

The community garden is made up of about twenty 12’x12′ plots, fruit trees, compost bins, and sitting area for socializing, tea, or crafts. Each member household has a P-patch. Members also collectively tend community plots of annual and perennial flowers, berries, greens, squash, herbs and more. Everyone in the garden has the opportunity to share their P-Patch bounty weekly with the local food bank. Volunteers maintain a self-serve flower stand during summer, where passersby can buy cut flowers from the garden.

Openings for the 2018 growing season!
