Marine Science Trivia Night with PTMSC – Thu, Jan 15th
Convene your team and come enjoy a fun night with marine facts, cider, and food! There will be 4 rounds of marine trivia sure to both challenge and amaze you! Teams are encouraged to wear PTMSC apparel, marine inspired apparel, and/or Finnriver apparel to the event. Entry fee: sliding scale ($5 – $20 per team) with a limit of 6 people per team.

Growing Practices for a Resilient Edible Garden – Sat, Jan 17th *New*
The second installment of the 2026 Yard & Garden lecture series will feature Marni Sorin, garden educator at Tilth Alliance and organic gardener. Marni will discuss techniques for supporting soil health, strategies and tools to adapt to changing weather patterns and ways that gardens can help mitigate the effects of climate change. The Yard & Garden lecture series is a fundraising and educational community event hosted by the Jefferson County Master Gardener Foundation and Washington State University Jefferson County Extension. Volunteers will tackle digging Orchard grass from the preserve, searching for and replanting small bulbs, and composting the grass. Be sure to dress for the weather, bring warm gloves and favourite digging tools. Heavy rain or wind cancels. Healthy snacks and warm beverages will be available. Tools and gloves are available to use. Enjoy spending some time on the Prairie Preserve at Camas Prairie Park! Meet at the kiosk near the parking lot. Questions? Send email.

Puffins: Beloved Sentinels of Ocean Health – Sun, Jan 18th
In this presentation, you will find out why puffins are among the most successful seabird species breeding in the Northern Hemisphere, and how they thrive in remote ocean wildernesses. You will also learn about their “Achille’s heel”, and what is currently the greatest threat to their survival. Presenter John Piatt is a seabird scientist whose career began at seabird colonies in Newfoundland and spanned 37 years with the U.S. Department of the Interior studying seabirds in Alaska. Retired from public service in 2024, John is now director of the World Puffin Congress, a nonprofit ocean education organization based in Port Townsend. This event is FREE – Thanks to the Darrow Family for their ongoing support.

Mindful Self-Compassion After School Program – Enrollment now open
The Benji Project is offering a Winter After School Mindful Self Compassion Program at the Jefferson County Library for 11-14 year olds. The program will take place on Wednesday afternoons for 8 weeks starting February 4 and ending on April 1 with a break on February 18. Discover mindful self-compassion through art, games, and reflection. Explore ways to navigate the ups and downs of life through fun activities in a supportive community. Register here.
