Birders (and artists!) of all skill levels are welcome. Feel free to bring your own preferred art supplies/binoculars/scopes, art supplies and binoculars provided. This event is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. RSVP online. Contact Kelly Kingdon with questions.

Night Watch: Fort Flagler’s Searchlight – Sat, Apr 18th & 25th *New*
Fort Flagler’s restored WWII searchlight is seasonally displayed next to the park office. Because of its historical nature, it is illuminated only a few times each year, making this a rare opportunity to see it in action. There will be a brief explanation of how searchlights were used by the Coast Artillery Corps and how the mechanism functions, then the beam will be turned skyward and all can see it cut across the night.
The event is FREE, but Discover Passes are required for parking. For more information, see the listing on Washington State Parks’ Event Calendar.
Time: 8pm on the 18th, 8:15pm on the 25th | Location: Field across the street from Fort Flagler’s Museum, 10541 Flagler Rd, Nordland
Port Townsend Community Dance – Sat, Apr 18th *New*
April’s dance caller is Suzanne Girardot. Her enthusiasm and infectious laugh put even the very beginner at ease on the dance floor. Formed at the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes in 2025, our local, all-youth, Boiler Room String Band will be serving up the dance tunes.
The Port Townsend Community Dance is inspired by traditional kitchen and barn dances and features a mixture of traditional sets, always danced to live music along with a dance caller. All experience levels are welcome; all dances are taught! Please bring your own personal water bottle and consider arriving on foot or by bicycle if possible!
