Turning Scotch Broom into Biochar Workshop and Live Demo – Fri, May 29th *New*
As many know, Scotch broom is one of the most stubborn fire hazards and ecological threats faced across western Washington. These demos will show something the folks at 10YKI are excited to apply – by using low-smoke flame cap kilns, it is possible to pyrolyze invasive broom and woody slash right on site – converting waste and liability into biochar, a carbon-rich soil amendment that sequesters carbon for millennia, improves water retention, and supports healthy soil microbial communities. Come see it for yourself! Register here to attend.
Time: 10am – 1pm | Location: Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe Land, Diamond Point Road, near Blyn
